MIND GAMES This print series colourfully embraces the my recent
undergraduate thesis concept of fantasy and how it relates to personal identity and escapist
urges. The thematic content of each of these prints has been inspired by a different grouping
of fantastical trope, which I have then remixed with appropriated and mnemonic texts taken
from a variety of critical, literary, and pop culture sources. This hybrid assemblage of text and
image forms the non-linear narrative framework for this body of work, a framework that has
been constructed to allow for experimentation with formal comic techniques such as gridded
page compositions, CMYK colour separation, the use of a black outlines and halftones, and
creating text as image.
